Herndon Optimist Youth Football (HOYF) is a member of the Fairfax County Youth Football League (FCYFL). The FCYFL consists of football clubs from Fairfax County, Arlington County, Alexandria, and Northern Prince William County. The league plays American-style full contact tackle football using modified high school football rules. The league was founded during the 1960’s and Herndon Optimist Youth Football was one of the original members of the league.

HOYF Football registration is open to all boys and girls, ages 7-16.

Players must be at least 7 years old as of October 1, 2006. No player may be older than 16 as of October 1, 2006. HOYF on-line registration starts June 1st for the 2006 football season. Click on Registration for more specific information.

HOYF Cheerleading is open to boys and girls, ages 6-14.

HOYF believes in and enforces a player participation rule. All players who have participated in all practices the week before a scheduled game or scrimmage will play in at least half of the game or scrimmage. All players will have a starting position either on the offense or defense. We want the kids on the field, not sitting on the bench. American Conference participation rules differ slightly.
